A Forest is for Life...
The new road!
Kilfinan Community Forest is OPEN
The new community access into the forest is nearly complete and the digger has now left. We would like to thank all the neighbouring residents for their patience and understanding during the construction phase of the road. The tarmacadam surface at the entrance is still to be installed, however, the forest access road is now open for visitors and there is plenty of parking! Please be considerate when exploring the new road as other traffic may require access. Forest Operations will continue due to the large amount of timber at the road side for milling. We would ask that people and pets take care when on the site and avoid any work areas and machinery, keeping pets on a leash. The Forestry Operations Team are still working hard clearing the allotment site, however they are scheduled for a chainsaw course next week which should make their job a lot easier.

Burnside Office
We are also delighted to announce that we have now taken a lease on the Burnside Surgery in Tighnabruaichs main street. This offers us much needed office space for our staff and will be a community hub - and a one-stop-shop for anything you would wish to know about your new community woodland which will also help people get involved in the WATCH programme (Woodfuel, Allotments, Transport, Composting and free Home energy Audits). If you want to save cash, energy and carbon then pop in for an informal chat or send us an email or pick up a WATCH form in the newsletter and hand it in to :

or telephone 01700 811 159!

Although opening hours are yet to be decided if the doors are open then we are too! Please feel free to pop in for a chat, pick up a newsletter or just find out more. We can now offer free WiFi and mobile phone charging facilities and there are lots of loos for community use.

Allotments Event
Our allotments event last Thursday was great and at least 14 local families and individuals are now interested in growing food in the forest. If you would like to find out more, then please call 01700 811159.

The site is a blank sheet and it will be up you to influence and design what the site could and should look like. So now is the time to get involved!

Our Next Events
Our next event is the Woodfuel Seminar on Thursday 2nd September at Kames Recreational Hall at 7.30pm. AliEnergy will be hosting an informal pop-in woodfuel surgery that afternoon at the Burnside Surgery to answer all those questions youd like to ask but never have.

If you have any office equipment, furniture or office supplies in surplus or they just need a new home, then let us know as were hunting down tables and chairs for our staff and visitors and we hope to see you soon!

If you are interested in finding out more about saving money in your home or are interested in growing food then please contact sara@kilfinancommunityforest.com or telephone 01700 811159
