Forest Crofts

At previous community consultation meetings KCFC expressed an interest in developing and offering forest crofts as part of the future development of Acharossan Forest. This was followed up by several expressions of interest from members of the local community. At present we are looking at 6 forest crofts and possibly 6 self-build plots that we hope to make available in the future. Although there are many traditional crofts around Scotland, forest crofts are something that is relatively new.

At present there is only one recorded example of a forest croft scheme in Scotland and this is in North West Mull. So it would seem that Argyll is leading the way in forest crofts! There will be further community consultation on this issue in the future to see if we can progress this idea but in the meantime if you are interested in the idea of forest crofts, please feel free to contact us on 01700 811205 or email eamon@kilfinancommunityforest.com.
