Kilfinan Community Forest is currently recruiting for the following posts:

Forest Access Coordinator
32 hours / week / £21,000 (pro rata) / fixed term contract for initial period of 1 year
The primary purpose of the post of Forest Access Coordinator is to deliver the local engagement plan, providing opportunities for education and training within the woodland setting, whilst developing a range of recreational facilities to boost local tourism and footfall to the forest. The post-holder will work with local groups and volunteers to develop activities focused on making environmental improvements to the forest amenity through a series of woodland workshops, volunteering opportunities and planned developments.

Community Engagement and Project Support Officer
1 day / week (totalling 40 hours /month) @ £15 hour (gross salary) 40 week fixed duration contract

This post will support Kilfinan Community Forest in develop and deliver our Low Carbon Classroom Project. This is a key role and the successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, self-motivated and demonstrate a ‘can do’ approach, with a commitment to sustainable environmental practices. He/she will facilitate community events to promote sustainable building and energy efficiency in practise; coordinate training workshops and raise awareness of the project. The post can be either on a freelance basis or PAYE.

Sustainable Construction Apprentice (two posts)
35 hours / week @ £7 hour (gross salary) including college attendance, which will increase to £8.25 on completion of training. 40 week fixed duration contract

KCFC’s Low Carbon Classroom Project is recruiting TWO apprentices. The successful applicants will work as part of a small team of employees, contractors and volunteers in constructing a new multi-purpose building in the forest. On the job training will provided and support will be given to assist the individual gain an SVQ relevant to the building industry. A core area of learning will be around sustainability and energy related issues. Both apprentice posts will be subject to a 40 week fixed duration contract but it is hoped that once the first building is complete the posts would be continued subject to review and available funding, to assist the construction of 5 affordable homes.
